The Medical Reserve Corps (MRC, https://mrc.hhs.gov/HomePage, www.vamrc.org) is a cadre of volunteer health professionals and community members who lend their time, knowledge and skills to supporting public health agencies like the Virginia Department of health, the Lord Fairfax Health District, and their local partners in public health emergencies and disasters. This meeting will serve as an overview of Lord Fairfax MRC policies and procedures and an opportunity to credential and onboard new members. The Medical Reserve Corps is volunteer organization that is a 100% federally-funded public program and is administered by the Virginia Department of Health. The Lord Fairfax MRC is coordinated by Christopher Rini, MPH, a regional unit coordinator based in the Central Shenandoah Health District. Lord Fairfax MRC volunteers are deployed under the authority of the Lord Fairfax Health District Director or their designee in an emergency or for routine community events or exercises.
