Description
Join us to view 2 short films about migratory birds and the conservation of biodiversity on local working land within the Shenandoah Valley. We will be joined by Director Sam LeGrys, Research Ecologist Brian Evens, and Virginia Grassland Bird Initiative (VGBI) Coordinator Justin Proctor, who will sit as a panel and discuss with program attendees.
“Building for Birds”:
Millions of birds pass through our yards during their bi-annual migrations, but they face an invisible killer along the way: glass windows. In the US alone, an estimated one billion birds die each year when they collide with windows. Now, two organizations help pave the way to a bird-friendly future.
“Grass Roots”:
“Grass Roots” is a short documentary featuring scientists from Smithsonian’s Virginia Working Landscapes and the local farms we collaborate with to study and conserve biodiversity on working lands.
